Curriculum Overview

The formal curriculum of St. Ambrose School is regulated by state requirements and diocesan policies.  It consists of Religion, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Computer, Physical Education, and Foreign Language.

Across the curriculum, emphasis is placed on flexibility, sensitive to and focusing on the individual needs of each child.  When appropriate, flexible grouping is used in Reading and mathematics.  Reading and Math support is available for students in grades K-5 who need reinforcement as their achievement and aptitude are assessed throughout the grades.

The remainder of the curriculum consists of all other activities in which the students and staff are involved:  spiritual experiences, field trips, social activities, extra-curricular sports, service projects, etc.  Since the entire world is our classroom, teachers seek to capitalize on all events as learning experiences.

Reading and Math resource personnel are available to all students.
